主讲教师:Prof. Xin Dong(东昕), University of Nottingham

Dr Xin Dong is an Associate Professor in Engineering Design for Manufacturing and deputy director of the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre (UTC) in Manufacturing and On-Wing Technology at the University of Nottingham. His research interests are continuum robots for inspection and repair in challenging environments and walking/crawling robots for multimodal locomotion. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Nottingham in 2015, funded by the Dorothy Hodgkin scholarship. Since being appointed as an academic staff in 2017, he has participated in several projects funded by EPSRC, Innovate UK and industry as principal and chief investigator. In 2018, he led one project to develop the world's first snake robot for repairing coating in aero-engines. In the last five years, he has published more than 50 papers in top academic journals on robotic design and modelling. Xin has filed 12 international patents. Dr Dong serves as an associate editor for the Journal of Field Robotics (Impact Factor 8.3) and a member of the early career forum within the EPSRC Robotics & Autonomous Systems Network. His recent research advances include an extra-long continuum robot for inspection and repair in confined space and a novel hybrid sensing system for measuring the shape of continuum robots.
